How does your work contribute to OKWU’s mission?

I have had the privilege of supporting the university’s mission by investing in people – whether by assisting employees in their roles or by empowering high school students with opportunities for academic and spiritual growth through concurrent enrollment. I love being able to help develop future servant leaders who will go on to make an impact for Christ – outside of OKWU – in their communities and careers.

How do you integrate faith into your daily work?

Whether working with employees or students, I want to reflect Christ’s love through my actions and interactions. In HR, our mission is to ensure employees feel valued and supported. With students, it’s an opportunity to build relationships that help them discover their God-given potential as they prepare for their future calling.

What makes OKWU a special place to you?

OKWU is special to me because I believe in what it stands for. The faculty and staff genuinely care about the students, not just academically, but spiritually as well. During my time here as a student and now as an employee – OKWU has impacted my life academically, spiritually, and professionally.  Also, my mom, niece, and both sons are all graduates of OKWU!

What advice would you give to a prospective student?

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”  Proverbs 3:6   Pray about where to attend college and if He leads you to OKWU you will have some of the best years of your life.  During college you will find people who will be your life-long friends; because you don’t just attend class with them, you live with them, share meals with them, attend worship with them. If you attend OKWU, you will receive a solid education – both academically and spiritually – learning things that you will use both professionally and personally. If you attend OKWU, you will have the opportunity to deepen your faith, strengthen your relationship with Christ and learn what it means to live out your life for Him.
