Julia Mongin
Julia Mongin serves as Head Coach for the men’s and women’s tennis programs at OKWU, a position she has held since January 2020.
A native of Jaunay-Clan, France, Mongin experienced great success as a player for Abilene Christian University.
An ACU graduate, Mongin had a distinguished tennis career, earning All-American honors five times. Her spring singles record was 70-18, while she achieved a doubles record of 95-15. She was on four teams that reached the NCAA DII Championships. In her junior and senior years, her teams advanced to the national semifinals.
Prior to joining OKWU, she spent six years as an assistant coach and director of operations for the Abilene Christian University tennis program.
During her first year as head coach, Mongin’s men’s top player, Jose Catala, finished second in the region and 38th nationally. The men’s team was named an ITA All-Academic team and four players were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. In 2020-21, women’s tennis sophomore Cori Campbell was voted the KCAC Female Student-Athlete Champion of Character, named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and the women’s tennis team was honored an ITA All-Academic team.
