Advancing the Kingdom
Our Mission
The mission of Oklahoma Wesleyan University is to live out what it means to be a Christ-centered university, modeling a way of thought, a way of life, and a way of faith. It is a place of serious study, honest questions, and critical engagement, all in the context of a liberal arts community that honors the Primacy of Jesus Christ, the Priority of Scripture, the Pursuit of Truth, and the Practice of Wisdom.
A Bright Future—
Now More Than Ever
Isaiah 6:8
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will
go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Advancing the Kingdom of Christ remains Oklahoma Wesleyan’s core mission since 1905.
Now more than ever is the time to answer God’s call to be sent into a world that needs the Good News of Jesus Christ! In the coming years, we have the potential to make a profound impact through this university by training, developing, and shaping our graduates in Christ so they can be sent out to transform the world for Christ. Just as Isaiah answered the call of God, we pray our graduates will be called and be sent out for God.
“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8”
I love this generation of young people. I know what the world says about them. I catch how the church feels about them. NOW is our opportunity to believe in and invest in them. As they get right with Jesus and they take the compassion they have for their fellow human beings – I believe they can fix this world. Wendy and I are at Oklahoma Wesleyan University for this purpose alone. If we can be a part of this generation being transformed by the grace and truth of Jesus, educated in a Christian worldview, and sending them out into this lost and dying world for Jesus NOW – we are all in!
For over a century many have invested in helping OKWU to thrive. Thanks to the generous partnership of our alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students, churches, and trustees, we will continue to build the next OKWU on mission for Christ NOW and well into the future.
Dr. Jim Dunn
President
Our dedication to equip and empower the next generation is clear and unshakable.
Through the generosity of our donors to the NOW campaign and to future campaigns, OKWU’s mission of advancing the Kingdom of Christ boldly continues firmly on our four pillars— the Primacy of Jesus Christ, the Priority of Scripture, the Pursuit of Truth, and the Practice of Wisdom.
What will it take?
Prayer
As OKWU faces the challenge of tomorrow, we need prayer partners to lift up OKWU NOW. It is through the intercession of prayer partners that OKWU has experienced such a blessed history. Our humble, daily request is that God would provide exactly what we need and that He would do His supernatural work in and through us every day.
Teamwork
Your advocacy is critical as the NOW campaign moves forward. It will take teamwork to advance
OKWU’s mission into the future. Your help in identifying individuals, churches, organizations, foundations, and prospective students who might join us in our ministry is important to our continued long-term success.
Generosity
More specifically, extreme generosity is needed for the success of this vision. Every gift lives on in the way our graduates answer God’s call, raise their children, lead in the workforce, and proclaim Christ’s grace and truth to our world.
