Global Methodist Church (GMC) Approves OKWU as Recommended Educational Institution
OKWU is now a preferred university of the Global Methodist Church (GMC) for ministerial training of students outside the U.S. and Western Europe. This marks a new chapter filled with opportunities for GMC students eager to grow in faith and make a meaningful impact. This endorsement allows OKWU to train GMS students outside the United States and Western Europe to complete courses needed for ordination.
A New Educational Alliance
When OKWU began discussions with the GMC, it wasn’t just another institutional agreement—it was a shared vision rooted in Wesleyan Holiness theological alignment. For GMC families across the globe seeking a biblically centered education that nurtures both mind and spirit, that place is now officially OKWU.
Starting in the 2025-26 academic year, eligible resident undergraduate GMC students will receive a 50% tuition discount, while full-time GMC clergy dependents can benefit from a 75% discount. This offer extends to every GMC student in every major that OKWU offers, except that GMC students who are U.S. or Western European citizens should pursue ministerial credentialing at an approved GMC Seminary. Beyond affordability, OKWU is committed to making Christian education accessible to more families, equipping students to be servant leaders.
Extending Global Reach for Ministerial Training
OKWU President Dr. Jim Dunn shared his enthusiasm: “This missional partnership continues the ultimate goal of why Oklahoma Wesleyan University exists – developing and sending servant leaders to carry the Gospel into a world that desperately needs God’s truth.”
By extending its reach locally and globally, OKWU is preparing a new generation of leaders across 50+ academic programs to spread the Gospel to every corner of the world. For GMC students at OKWU, the future is bright. Here, education and faith work together, unlocking limitless potential and advancing Kingdom impact.
