OKWU’s School of Health and Science is pleased to announce that the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program was recently granted full accreditation by The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). This comes after the CCNE evaluated the program in areas including curriculum, faculty, and student outcomes.
OKWU’s DNP was found to be in full compliance with all of the CCNE standards.
“This accreditation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students,” said Dr. Jessica Johnson, Dean of the School of Health and Science. “It is also a recognition of the quality of our program and its commitment to excellence in nursing education.”
The DNP program was OKWU’s first ever doctoral program and launched in 2021. The 100% online program is designed to equip nurses to serve at the highest level of nursing practice, developing nurse leaders who improve patient outcomes and health systems by translating research into practice.
The program allows already working adults to take one course at a time to earn their DNP in as little as two years.
“I am confident that our DNP program will continue to provide our students with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in their careers as advanced practice nurses, and I am confident that we will continue to be a leader in nursing education,” Johnson said.
