OKWU was saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Thomas Phillippe, Sr., 89, on December 22nd, but is also celebrating the life and impact of this dedicated Christ follower. A long-time OKWU supporter, Dr. Phillippe and his wife, Dr. Joan Phillippe, were faithful servants of the gospel. Both the Phillippes impacted OKWU in countless ways, both during Joan’s time as a board member and in the couple’s faithful giving of their time and resources to better the University with projects such as the Drake library, the Phillippe residence hall, and more.
“Dr. Philippe was God‘s blessing to the Wesleyan church, and more specifically to Oklahoma Wesleyan University,” said OKWU president, Dr. Everett Piper. “His godly example, his business savvy, and his willingness to be God’s faithful steward of everything that the Lord gave him have impacted thousands for the kingdom of Christ. I am blessed to have known him and grateful to claim him as a partner in preaching the gospel. Heaven’s gain is our loss.”
Funeral services for Dr. Phillippe will be Thursday, January 3rd, at College Wesleyan Church in Marion, IN.
