Prof Eric Gray with background

Eric Gray

Associate Professor of English

Chapel and Fine Arts Center

Eric Gray

Dr. Eric Gray received his B.A. from the University of Oklahoma, his M.F.A. from the University of Alabama, and his Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University. A native of Bartlesville, Gray originally had no interest in being a part of the OKWU community; instead, he hoped to continue on as faculty at larger universities like those he had studied at. But after experiencing the lack of personal attention that comes with a larger setting and desiring a setting where he could teach out of the experience of his faith, Gray came home as an Eagle. His ultimate goal is to allow students to grow closer to God by showing them how to think accurately, understand more fully, and communicate clearly.

“These skills – reading, writing, and communicating well – are becoming rarer and rarer in our world because of social media and technology. People are becoming more isolated, and their communication skills are declining. This means more people need people who can communicate, because it is not so common anymore. When you can be a good reader and writer, you are going to be in more demand. Being a good communicator is almost the number one skill most employers want.”
