Featured Core Classes
Health Care Informatics Literacy: Analysis and Data Management
This course introduces data, information, and knowledge literacy. Students will use information and communication technology tools to gather, manage, and interpret data to deliver quality, safe, patient centered care in health care systems. Principles of information management, information exchange, and data analytics will be explored from an interdisciplinary team approach.
Management Leadership Nursing Health Care
This course provides a study of change theories and practice, health law, marketing, human resources, and collaboration and negotiation techniques and methods to effectively resolve conflicts. This course prepares students to become transformational leaders and innovative educators. Focus is placed on improving quality and safety methods, performance measures, evaluation tools, and standards of care.
Curriculum Design/Innovation/Evaluation
Students examine trends in nursing and explore the influence of these trends on nursing curriculum such as the use of simulation and application of technology in the classroom. Various teaching and learning strategies will be examined and tested by students in this course. Emphasis on Malcolm Knowles’ Adult Learning Theory as well as principles of Pedagogy will be incorporated into curriculum design components.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing, master’s degree program in nursing, and Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Oklahoma Wesleyan University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (ccneaccreditation.org).
Do I have to have a master’s degree to get this certificate?
No. While this would be a beneficial post master’s certificate, we do allow students with a BSN to enter our certificate program.
Do I have to have an active RN license?
Yes. We require all student to have an active unencumbered RN license.
Is this certificate the same as the ANCC certifications?
No. This is a certificate program that has academic credit. This does include the testing associated with AANC certificate programs. Completion of this certificate can be helpful in preparing you for a ANCC certification exam. Our certificates are written at graduate level and do not expire or require renewal.
Do I earn academic credit?
Yes. All courses offered in our certificate program are also offered in our MSN or BSN to DNP program. These courses will transfer into either program if you decide to continue your education.
Are their clinical hours associated with these certificate program?
Yes. We have indirect practice clinical hours associated with the coursework within the assignments. These post-baccalaureate practice hours may be transferable to meet the requirements in DNP programs.
