Description

Working under the supervision of the Executive Director of Admissions, the Admissions GA works closely with his or her supervisor to execute essential tasks to aid and assist the OKWU Admissions Counselors throughout their recruiting and enrollment seasons.

This position requires a friendly, pleasant personality, from someone comfortable with public speaking as well as phone calls and presentations via zoom; the abilities to maintain confidentiality, work independently, prioritize, and organize, engage in strategic planning, and project management, and the capacity to complete tasks with limited oversight and independent judgment. Computer skills and attention to detail are essential. This position also requires flexibility of hours worked.

Supervision Given or Received

Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of Admissions with general supervision by the VP of Enrollment Management.

Education Requirements & Qualifications

  1. A personal and vital Christian faith consistent with the mission of the university.
  2. A bachelor’s degree, master’s or equivalent training and experience is required.
  3. Significant computer literacy is required.
  4. A record of successful work experience in an academic setting is preferred.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Welcomes students and guests into the OKWU Admissions office and directs to appropriate staff for assistance
  • Assists students with general questions related to Admissions
  • Screens and evaluates incoming and outgoing email, mail, and phone calls and prepares responses as appropriate
  • Leads Campus Tours for potential students and their families
  • Helps plan and carryout special events such as Campus Preview Days, daily visits and/or extended stays for guests of the Admissions Office
  • Prepares communications such as emails, office signage, campus notices, and other correspondences related to Admissions
  • Trains and provides supervision to work-study students, including daily tasks, schedules, and timesheets, and addresses any employee issues
  • Maintains general knowledge of appropriate university policies and procedures as it relates to admission and enrollment to the Traditional/Residential Campus as well as the Graduate and Professional Studies Department
  • Oversees record maintenance and archival processing
  • Assists the ED of Admissions, Admissions Counselors and Admissions Coordinator with various projects
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Admissions
  • Work Winter and Spring Commencement events
  • Work university-wide special events when called upon by the Office of the President

Requirements for GA:

  • Registered and enrolled in an OKWU graduate degree.
  • Good academic record with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Record of leadership ability
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Basic computer literacy.
