In October 2022, Oklahoma Wesleyan University launched the largest capital campaign in school history – the NOW Campaign.
OKWU will raise $68 million by 2030, spurred on by the message of Isaiah 6:8: “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
The NOW Campaign priorities are endowment for student scholarships ($30 million), expansion of the athletic/fitness space ($20 million), and our campus renaissance ($18 million). Additionally, President Jim Dunn announced the annual fund was increased from $600,000 to $1 million.
In the months since President Dunn and his leadership team have met with donors and established relationships with interested parties. OKWU has received a significant number of donations with over $5 million raised toward the campaign.
“We are thankful for those answering the call to partner with us,” said Dr. Jim Dunn, OKWU’s president. “Our dedication to equip and empower the next generation is clear and unshakeable, and the NOW Campaign will allow us to secure OKWU’s ability to do that for decades to come.”
Immediate Focus
The campaign’s specific focus points for 2023 and 2024 were recently outlined. These projects will have an immediate impact on current OKWU students and include the following:
- $250,000 by July 1, 2023, for added parking with safety lighting and cameras.
- $500,000 by December 31, 2023, to renovate an older dorm.
- $1 million by July 1, 2024, to increase multi-use housing capacity for students.
- $3 million by December 31, 2024, to install the first outdoor track in school history and improve our outdoor athletic space.
“These big goals will tangibly impact nearly every student who sets foot on our campus,” said Dunn.
Anyone interested in giving to these projects or any aspect of the campaign can do so in several ways.
