Dr. Jim Dunn, President
Oklahoma Wesleyan University
As OKWU looks toward the future, strengthening a culture of synergy and teamwork dedicated to the pursuit of University-wide goals is imperative. To aid towards consolidating this type of culture and team, the newly created role of VP for Creative Impact (Chief Creative Officer) will invite collaboration, new perspectives, and creative solutions focused on the OKWU community’s shared goal of Christ-centered education and student-success. The position will expand OKWU’s capabilities to successfully partner and impact our students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and community while improving services for the benefit of Wesleyan higher education.
I am pleased to announce as OKWU’s first Vice President for Creative Impact, Kory Pence. He will serve an integral role in the next stage of achieving OKWU’s vision for our traditional campus as well as our adult and graduate studies enterprises. As VP for Creative Impact, he will contribute to the successful representation of OKWU’s brand through meaningful, on-brand communication plans, design-driven engagements, and innovation in the Christian higher education marketplace.
Kory brings experience branding global organizations, leading teams focused on collaborative creative design, and an enthusiasm for students experiencing Christ through higher education. He comes to us from The Wesleyan Church headquarters where he has served as the Chief Creative Director. Kory evidenced skill in focusing the organization to creatively and strategically share stories of reaching the world for Christ. He has also worked and consulted in the private sector through marketing, designing, digital storytelling, and branding for impact initiatives. Additionally, he has engaged students in the classroom, teaching university-level courses in graphic design. Kory holds a Master of Fine Arts in Design from Marywood University with a focus on design for change and a Bachelor of Science in graphic design from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Kory and his wife, Kristen, are the proud parents of daughter, Lia. They anticipate extending their community roots from Indianapolis, IN, to Bartlesville, OK, this summer. Please join me in welcoming the Pence family, who will be a tremendous blessing to our OKWU team in many significant ways.
